Today I did a road test for a guy named Garland McCoy Jr. He was 18 years old and from, you guessed it, Pullman. "So Garland, do you go to school or do you work?" "I'm working." "Doing what?" "I work with the blueberries." Where did you go to school?" "Bloomingdale." "Did you ever have a class with Miss LaBarge?" "Yes." "Well, she is one of my daughters." "Miss LaBarge taught the only class that I liked." "What was the subject Garland?" "History of something or other." "Did you graduate?" "No, I went thru 11th grade but then got kicked out because they said I was calling teachers names." "Did you actually say bad things about your teachers?" "No, they just didn't like me. One day my mother got a call and they told her I was calling teachers names and that I had to come into the office and my mother said that I wouldn't be coming in because I had dropped out and I said OK! that sounds good to me." "Do you like to hunt or fish?" "Both are allright with me. Me and my dad went to that Kolind park here in Holland. That's where you get them sheepheads. We come to Holland all the time to go to the movies and then out to eat. They don't have many places to eat at South Haven except for the Burger King." "So what resturants have you been to in Holland?" We went to the Ponderrosa and to some Chinese place." Do you like Chinese food Garland?" "No, one time my dad and uncle went with their old ladies to a Chinese place and there was baby dog on the menu and I ain't going to eat no baby dog." "Um, what kind of work do you do with the blueberries?" "I ran the mechicanical picker." "Arn't the blueberries all picked by now, what else do they have you doing?" "Nothing, that's why I hunt."
